Callee’s Graduation Pictures
by Amity High School Senior Photographer ©
One of the things that I love about being a High School Senior photographer is that there is a different challenge every time I photograph somebody and I love meeting new people and bringing out the best version of themselves. Now in this situation is was a little different. Callee is the daughter of Joely. Who is Joely you ask? She is somebody I knew in my own high school days of High School Rodeo when I was crazy riding bulls, saddle bronc, calf roping, team roping, and one-time steer wrestling. When she called we hadn’t spoken on the phone since I’m sure 1983 or somewhere around them. I was thrilled and immediately got excited to meet her family and document such an important time in her life.
Planning the Session
Planning starts with seeing if the senior already has a Pinterest Board that has likes and style they may want on their photoshoot. Then, Tonya and I look for a location (or multiple locations) based on the outfits and overall vibe of the images. We then check out more social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook to get a sense of who they are.
Now for Ms. Callee’s shoot based on her Secret Pinterest Board, she wanted a couple looks. Some had nature, a few had graffiti, and the rest had an urban look.
Finding a location
Since I live near Newberg, Oregon, I knew there were endless options. We started shooting on our property for the trees and horse vibe, then moved into the City. Newberg has a long history and a ton of old buildings that were there when I was there growing up as a kid. We were able to find some cool buildings and architecture that really tied the outfits the gals put together.
